Glenn Beck speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington D.C. on October 8, 2011.(Gage Skidmore)
By Tim Collins
I listen to a lot of talk radio and read a ton of blogs and websites to help prepare material for articles. Lately I have noticed a major trend with mainstream talk show hosts, they are full of disinformation. Listening to Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh for a few days can be confusing to those who are aware of what’s really going on.
On Glenn’s website, “The Blaze”, there seems to be a common theme; nitpick on everything President Obama does. They have stories about misspellings, a bombshell article about his communist ties, what he ate, etc. It’s almost become the TMZ of politics. Facts are being replaced by gossip.
We aren’t fans of President Obama, but when we come across disinformation, we need to address it no matter who is the subject.
The big story on the site is Obama’s Communist Mentor.
The story is about a book written by Paul Kengor called “The Communist”. The story claims to be able to prove that Obama is a Communist. Here’s the problem with the claim. The book is about Frank Marshall Davis, a mentor of the President’s. Davis was deemed a Communist for joining the Youth Section of the National Negro Congress, which the government had declared a Communist front organization. The year was 1936 and Davis was a contributing editor for the “Spokesman”, the organization’s publication.
Frank Marshall Davis did show an interest in Communism, but seemed to favor Socialism overall. He was tied by the government to the Communist Party during the McCarthy Era, but so were many Americans.
Davis was linked to the Democratic Revolution, which saw many workers go on strike.
A 1950 FBI memo reports that members of the subversive element in Honolulu were:
concentrating their efforts on infiltration of the Democratic party through control of Precinct Clubs and organizations. He said they were spending considerable time urging support for their candidates in these Precinct Club elections. In this regard, he noted on April 6, 1950, that subject [Davis] had been elected Assistant Secretary and Delegate to the Territorial Democratic Convention…attendance of Davis at the Territorial Democratic Convention was verified by [informant]. This convention took place on April 30 at Kalakana Intermediate School
Robert M. Kempa, a Communist party informant who agreed to cooperate with government investigators, reported,
Late in the fall of 1950, I started contacting Frank Marshall Davis in connection with Communist Party matters, and relaying to him information received from my superior contact in the Communist Party, either James Freeman or [redacted]. During a portion of 1950, 1951 and part of 1952, I continued contacting Frank Marshall Davis and also transmitted dues for the Communist Party received from him to my contact above. During the period of my contacts with Frank Marshall Davis, he advised me that his wife, Helen was a member of Group #10. …During a portion of 1951 [redacted] took over contacts with the Davis group but I resumed contacting Davis in 1952 and continued meeting him on Communist Party matters until I left the Party in June of that year.
Koji Ariyoshi and six others of the movement were arrested by the FBI in synchronized raids. They were charged with plotting to overthrow the Territorial Government.
The Revolution was a success in ousting white rule and the power of the plantations had been broken.
Again, the claims are kind of weak against Frank Marshall Davis, especially at a time when many Americans were accused of being Communists simply for not falling into line.
If we applied those standards to our modern America, Glenn Beck would be a Communist for questioning the government along with most bloggers, myself included.
Disinformation like Beck is peddling is damaging to those who have real dirt on the President or actual proof of misdeeds. To simply grasp at straws and call it a bombshell revelation makes everyone else look like fools.
Every revolution will have it’s traitors and those seeking to make those involved look bad. It is up to all of us to be on the look out for disinformation and to not fall for the lies.
We cannot be led into the wild fantasy worlds that some live in. We need to keep our minds free of trash and focus on our real goal, true change.
Beware of race baiting on both sides, attempts at class warfare, and other diversions. Glenn Beck has proven himself to be a puppet for the New World Order and is looking to distract us from the real enemy to our freedoms, the power elite.
Gay marriage won’t destroy America, welfare will not destroy America, but the power elite will. The foreign banks will destroy our nation.
They are scared because too many people are on to them, and more people are waking up everyday. Be cautious, be safe, remain peaceful. Remember violence only begets violence.
God Bless
