Poll: Romney leads in battleground Florida


HAMDEN, Conn., May 23 (UPI) — Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney holds a 47 percent to 41 percent lead over President Obama in Florida, a new Quinnipiac poll indicated.

Sixty-three percent of voters asked said Obama’s support of same-sex marriage won’t affect their vote, results of the Hamden, Conn.-based Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday found.

Another 25 percent of voters, mainly those identifying themselves as independent in the southern battleground state said Obama’s support of gay marriage makes them less likely to support his candidacy.

Registered voters in Florida, 52 percent to 44 percent, that Obama does not deserve a second term and a majority, 52 percent to 44 percent, disapproved of the job he’s doing.
