China has blasted American policy makers, telling them that if they attack Iran, then China will respond with military force. To make matters worse, most of the debt that America owe belongs to China. President Obama, for the meantime, hs given a yellow light to strikes against Iran.Unbiased reports from Iran say that Iran has no nuclear weapons and are quite a few years away from developing them.
China’s state run media has begun to attack America’s sanctions on Iran. Some of China’s oil companies have been working with Iran to drill in the Gulf and Chinese banks could face sanctions for doing business with Tehran. Earlier this year, China tried petitioning the World Bank to change the trade currency from the U.S. dollar, siting it’s weakened value. China also ignored warnings from world economists to slow down growth over fears that other countries couldn’t catch up. While other economies were failing, China boasted a booming economy.
The threat of China should be taken seriously. They have increased military funding this past year, and have the potential to enlist the services of millions of it’s citizens. China is serious about protecting their economic growth and new found status as a big world player.
“Russia Is Public Enemy Number One”
Mitt Romney drew flack from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev over comments that Russia is a threat to the United States. Medvedev responded to the critique:
“As to ideological cliches, I have already spoken on the subject. I always get very cautious when I see a country resort to phrasings such as “number one enemy.” It is very reminiscent of Hollywood and certain period of history. I would advise two things to all US presidential candidates, including the person you just mentioned. My first advice is to listen to reason when they formulate their positions. Reason never harmed a presidential candidate. My other advice is to check their clocks from time to time: it is 2012, not the mid-1970s. No matter what party a candidate represents, he has to take the current state of affairs into account. That is the only way he could count on winning.”
Romney made the statement after President Obama told Medvedev that he would be able to work on missile defense after he gets re-elected. Russia and the United States were to decrease the number of nukes that they own.
The reason that the Romney quote was brought up, is to show his and the media’s ignorance on China. The Cold War has been over for decades now, but Republicans are still trying to make Russia out to be the enemy. While they are distracted their followers with talk of the Cold War, they are turning a blind eye to China. China is a top importer to America. Many American companies have production plants in Communist China. The question is, why is communism okay in China?
America’s lack of action to China’s various human rights complaints, their war on Tibet, and various other disgraces points to a much larger issue. The issue is the power of corporations and big industries over both parties and ultimately American foreign policy. Big business is one reason why the United States government continues to sit idly by as China attacks Buddhists in Tibet and allows workers to labor in deplorable conditions for little money.
Mr. Romney needs to wake up and realize that real public enemy number one is China. Until America kicks out the SuperPACs and corporate lobbyists, China will continue along their course unquestioned. Republicans talk about American pride and American jobs, yet many manufacturing jobs have been shipped overseas. The labor is cheaper and the profit margin is much higher. China’s role in manufacturing for American companies has provided them with a no questions asked free pass. Even as China threatens America, the corporate media stays silent.
